Our Inspiration

Smak is the Swedish word for taste or flavour.
Trips to Scandinavia and a love of meatballs are the inspiration behind Smak Bristol.  We aim to offer an alternative to a saturated food market full of burgers and pizzas (albeit there are some fabulous ones!).  
We provide a range of delicious meatballs made using locally, sustainably sourc

Trips to Scandinavia and a love of meatballs are the inspiration behind Smak Bristol.  We aim to offer an alternative to a saturated food market full of burgers and pizzas (albeit there are some fabulous ones!).  
We provide a range of delicious meatballs made using locally, sustainably sourced meat and game.  In additional we offer vegetarian equivalents and our rice based Comfortballs.   
Alongside this we are able to cater for parties and corporate events, providing Smørrebrød - Danish open sandwiches.  These are real show stoppers.  Beautiful to look at and packed with delicious, fresh ingredients and vibrant flavours.

Smak aims to provide delicious comforting food that brings enjoyment and fulfilment. Smak aims to provide delicious comforting food that brings enjoyment and fulfilment. With a range of recipes from traditional Swedish meatballs with decadent mash and pickles, to rice-based ’Comfortballs’, to special side dishes made from interesting flavour combinations, Smak caters for meat and game lovers and vegetarians alike. Using locally sourced and seasonal produce, Smak has options for everyone, whether you want food that “sticks to your ribs” or you want a lighter, more “summery”dish. 

In  Spring 2022, we launched a range of nordic hotdogs, known as Tunnesbrödrulle including vegan and gluten free options. Plus a delicious coleslaw made with our very own remoulade which is also vegan and gluten free.

Our owner and chef, Anthony Clark trained at Leith School of Food and Wine in London.
